Vista is a 64-bit OS. Currently, the major concensus is that it’s quite buggy. It’s still being improved upon. If you want to take full advantage of that 1000$ budget, go to www.TigerDirect.com. Buy a barebones kit and put it together yourself. (I put my own 64-bit system together for a little over 500$ ). If you don’t know how to put your own computer together, hire someone to do it for you (and you’ll still save money). I’ll even do it for you it you want. TigerDirect.com is a great place to find inexpensive prices for good computers. (I bought mine from them)
